Class
: Biological (Biochemical Biopesticide)
Action : Insecticide
· Composition
Pyerin is based on pyrethrum extract formulated
in edible vegetable oil. Unlike most pyrethrum formulations, Pyerin
has no Piperonyl butoxide (pbo), the most commonly used Synergist
of pyrethrum formulations. A vegetable oil replaces pbo in order
to give Pyerin a truly natural status.
· Activity
Pyerin controls aphids, worms, caterpillars whilefly
and thrips.
· Crop Range
It has no known phytotoxicity and may be used on
all types of plants. However, it is always advisable to check on
a few plants before applying wholesale.
· Rate and
Method of Application
The recommended rate is 3mls/litre of water. Shake
the product thoroughly before adding into clean water. High pH levels
affect efficacy. Adjust water pH to 5-6 before mixing. Apply immediately
after mixing and do not allow the mixture to stand in the sun for
more than 2 hours.
Spray to wet and ensure full coverage on all foliage
including the underside of leaves.
· Timing of
Application
Apply on first signs of infestation and repeat fortnightly
until the symptoms disappear. Avoid overhead irrigation for the
next 24 hours after application. User of wetter/spreader such as
natural wet enhances efficacy.
· Contradictions
Pyerin may be used in mixture with other pesticides
and liquid fertilizer. However, check miscibility with a small quantity
before mixing wholesale.
· Precautions
Although Pyerin is of low mammalian toxicity, standard
precautions on the handling of pesticides should be taken and in
case of accident, normal first aid measures should be applied.
· Storage
Pyerin is sensitive to light and degrades rapidly
if exposed. Store in a dark cool and dry place in original container.
· Preharvest
Interval
Although Pyerin treated crop may be harvested on
the day of application, it is recommended to harvest the day after
application.
