Activity:

Furadan® is broad spectrum carbamate Insecticide / Nematicide which acts on pests through direct contact or by ingestion. Soil application of Furadan® controls foliar pests by systemic action in the plant. When Furadan® is applied as a seed treatment, it protect young seedlings from soil-based pests. Furadan® controls nematodes (root Knot, spiral, lance, barrowing, and lesion), weevils, thrips aphids, white flies and many other pests.

Crop Range:

Furadan® can be used in Coffee, Bananas, maize, groundnuts, potatoes, rice, sugarcane, pyrethrum, tobacco and vegetable nurseries.

Rate, Timing and Method of Application:

Furadan®5G is soil applied in coffee, place 40 gm Furadan® granules in a circular band under tree canopy and work the soil to incorporate, in potatoes place 1gm around each seed and in maize place 2 gm Furadan® at each planting hole before covering it respectively. In vegetables place 1 gm Furadan® in open planting hole at transplanting. For bananas and pyrethrum, apply twice a year at the onset of the rains by placing 60 gm Furadan® granules round each stool and incorporate with soil. In tobacco, place 2 gm Furadan® in each open transplanting hole and for nurseries, broadcast 20 gm per m2 of Furadan® granules and incorporate lightly in the seedbed before planting. Ensure adequate soil moisture after applying Furadan® 5G.

Contradictions:

Furadan® 5G should not be applied to crop near harvesting period.

Precautions:

Furadan® is toxic to fish and should not be poured directly into watercourses. Furadan® is toxic to birds, livestock and wild game if ingested. However crops treated at recommended rate of Furadan® do not present any hazard to livestock or foraging bees.

Storage:

Store Furadan® in tightly closed clearly labeled original containers under lock and key, away from children, animals, unauthorized personnel, food and feedstuffs. It should be kept away from fires and heat sources.

Pre-Harvest Interval: 35 days in vegetables and fruits

Furadan is available in many different formulations e.g. Furadan® 10G, Furadan® 4F, Furadan® ST etc for different uses.


Furadan® 4F

This is a highly soluble formulation for use exclusively in drip and micro irrigation systems. It effectively controls nematodes and soil-borne pests and also foliar pests including mites in ornamentals and mealy bugs in pineapples.

Rate, Timing and Method of Application:

Furadan® 4F fits well in IPM programs on nematode management. On established crop, apply 18 lts Furadan® 4F per Ha after every 3 (three) months. Reduce the application interval depending on the infestation. Furadan® 4F should be applied as routine program but should be alternated with other nematicides of different chemistries eg Rugby (cadusafos) and Pl plus (Peaecilomyces lilacinus). Furadan® 4F should be applied through drip or micro irrigation systems.
