Class

Biological (Biomicrobio Biopesticide)

Action

Rootgard® controls root rots and damping-off diseases. It will screen off the roots from nematodes and some bacterium against crop roots.
Rootgard® controls caterpillars, Diamond Backmoth and Botrytis.
Rootgard® accelerates decomposition of organic matter and produce growth-promoting substances.
  Composition

Rootgard is a cocktail of plant useful microorganisms specially formulated with nutrients and enzymes. The microorganisms include Trichoderma spp, Bacillus spp, Pseudomonas spp, Aspergillus spp, Chaetomium spp, Escherichia spp and Azorobacter spp. This cocktail renders Rootgard very versatile and it is one of the rare products which can claim insecticidal and fungicidal activities simultaneously.

Activity

As a soil treatment (includes broadcast spray, in drip and drench) Rootgard will control Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, Pythium and Sclerotium. It will screen off the roots from nematodes and bacterium including (?) which the causes bacterial wilt.

And as a spray, Rootgard will control caterpillars, Diamond Backmoth and Botrytis.

Rootgard will also help in solubilisation of bonded Phosphorous thus making it available to the plant, accelerate decomposition of organic matter and produce growth-promoting substances.

Crop Range

Rootgard may be used on any crop hosting these pathogens. However, when used as a spray, it is advisable to check phytotoxicity with a few plants before applying wholesale.

Rate of Use and Method of Application

Rootgard may be used in drip, as a drench, as a spray, as a root dip, as on soil broadcast spray, and as a seed treater on its own or in combi. The rates of use depend on the specific method and crop.

The following are general guidelines:

In drip : 4kg/ha
Foliar Spray : 1gm/litre of water
Drench : 5gm/lit of water
Broadcast soil spray : 5gm/lit of water
Seed treater (wet) : 5gm/lit of water
Root dip
: 5gm/lit of water
Seed treater (dry) : 10gm per kg seed.

In all cases, the incorporation of Humax at 2gm/lit of water enhances the multiplication of
the microorganisms and therefore the efficacy.

Timing of Application

Drench, in drip and other soil applications – at the beginning of the season and bimonthly thereafter until the end of the corp.

Foliar spray at first signs of infestation and thereafter every 21-28 days until the symptoms disappear.

Seed treater/root dip: immediately before planting or transplanting.

Contradictions

Although Rootgard contains microorganisms which could ordinarily be destroyed by chemicals, this formulation is fairly tolerant to most synthetic pesticides but the rate might have to be adjusted substantially. Consult the distributor.

Precautions

Avoid inhaling or ingesting the dust and keep it from the eyes. Rootgard is otherwise a very safe product.

Storage

Store in a cool dry place in the original container. If properly stored, Rootgard could maintain potency for 5 years.

Preharvest Interval

It is approved as a zero-day preharvest period. However, we recommend harvesting the day after application.
